“Do not pour milk on the dog. Okay?” Sometimes it just comes out. You may not even realize you’re doing it. You’re certainly not asking your two year old if she agrees with you. You use your best stern mommy voice, you stay consistent with the rules and you lay down the law when necessary. But, those pesky OKs slip right onto the end of your best commands, making them weak, and probably grammatically incorrect. So, you’re why-not challenge this week is to cut out the OK. You can go cold turkey and try just cutting off the statement. Or, try a replacement like, “Understand?” It is harder than you think, but most parenting challenges are. Now get going! Okay?
